Some love stories are built on chance. Theirs? It’s built on shared roots, long-time connections, and all the little moments that led them right to each other.

Kenzie and Garrett both grew up on the Eastern Shore and even went to the same high school—just not at the same time. Kenzie grew up being friends with Garrett’s sisters, and that friendship has lasted from childhood, through high school, and even to this day. She was also a caregiver for his Poppop Haymaker before he passed, and Mr. Donnie—Garrett’s dad—was even her gym teacher. Though their paths quietly crossed in meaningful ways, they barely knew each other back then. Looking back now, it all feels like a story that was slowly unfolding—one connection at a time.

It wasn’t until 2020 that Garrett reached out over social media and asked for her number—and the rest, as they say, is history. Not long after, they had their first date at the family house, eating sushi on the dock. From that moment on, it was Godfrey’s Farm runs, late-night Crumbl dates, and something real beginning to grow.

In November 2022, they welcomed their daughter Peyton—the most strong-willed, sassy, and sweet-hearted little girl they could’ve ever dreamed of. Peyton is the heartbeat of their story. She has the biggest heart, loves fiercely, and has taught Kenzie and Garrett more about life, love, and opening their hearts than they ever imagined. She's the reason behind so many of their best days—and the center of everything they’re building together.

Garrett proposed on January 1st, 2024, at Schellville in Rehoboth Beach—with Peyton right there beside them. It was a total surprise, and the perfect way to begin this next chapter of their journey.

They’ve walked through hard seasons and heavy losses, but love—and an unshakable faith—have always been their foundation. They’ve come out stronger, more grateful, and more connected because of it.

These days, life is full in the best ways: raising their wild girl, balancing shift work (Kenzie in the ER and Garrett as a K9 Trooper for the Maryland State Police), and keeping up with four dogs (yes, four!). It’s chaotic, it’s loud, it’s beautiful—and it’s theirs.

They’re getting married at the family house on the Corsica River, the place where it all began. It’s where they had their first date, made countless memories, and now, where they’ll promise forever—surrounded by the people who have loved and supported them every step of the way. The house is especially meaningful, as it was owned by Kenzie's beloved Poppop Schrader. That dream lives on in the place where Kenzie and Garrett's next chapter begins.
